Is that a Cremina basket or an elektra ? I don't remember mine being that tall. I dose 17 grams from the Pharos . Usually I tap the portafilter with the funnel still on to help it settle down a bit before I take it off.

A couple of vertical taps on the counter should settle those grinds.

Hi,
Just wanted to say thanks for your comments and suggestions. I have been doing a softer tamp, vertical taps to level the grounds, and used some old grinds to practice and the quality of my shots is much better.
