I have an Elektra microcasa a leva that I purchased in Europe and am moving back to New York. It's set up for European electricity (220v) and I'm trying to figure out if I need a transformer or not. Since there's no motor or pump, it would seem to me that it would work fine, with maybe a longer heat up time. Anyone think different?

At 110V that 800 watt element will only be putting out around 200 watts (at the same resistance, power is proportional to the square of the voltage.) Even if you don't care about steaming, at that level it would take ages to get the machine up to pressure - not even sure that it would. Won't harm the machine if you give it a try though.

Need a transformer rated for a minimum 1Kw and a 2Kw would be a much better bet. Easily found on eBay.

If you have a split kitchen circuit, or an electric range near by, then a electrician can wire up an 220 (240) volt outlet for you. In some ways better than an ugly transformer.

That's helpful. I didn't know you could get an electrician to do that.

Probably better than buying a new machine
