Anyone ever use a mix of roasted blends?

Hi,

I was just curious to see if anyone ever blends
already roasted coffees/blends from different roasters.
(For example, you dont have enough of one blend to make
a shot, or you have a coffee that you just cant tame to your liking)

I purchased some coffees from different roasters recently.
One of them was flavorful, but too bright, the other too smoky.
I blended them and managed to get a decent shot.

I dont drink much brewed coffee, so this was something that I preferred doing.

Thanks,

Yes, I did this today. I didn't have enough for a full 18g dose this morning. Only had about 10g left in the bag. So I mixed in another blend for the rest. I estimated the grind setting and it turned out pretty darn well.

Both coffees were blends. No single origins in this case.

I don't buy much in the way of blends, except to compare to my own, but then I end up adding beans to tweak to my taste preference anyway

I've done this a bit, both with mixing among roasters and from beans from the same roasters. Its been mixed results; I've created some good shots and some others that either didn't taste good or were hard to dial-in (and tasted uneven).

Overall, I've probably had more consistent results with seeking and buying "prepared" blends.

Sure, why not. There are no rules as far as I am concerned. Try it, if you don't like the result, do something different. If you do like the result, repeat often. That's how we learn.
