Hi Home Baristas!

So recently I did a thread about my Nuova Era Cuadra being dead. Turns out the relay on the pstat and the heating element have gone. The relay was easy to get but the heating element seems to be an issue. I am outside the USA so I could probably order it from anywhere but contacting Nuova Era directly has been impossible, they don't reply.

I talked to 1st-line in the USA and they said Nuova Era has been a disaster with parts lately and they have no ETA. I am pretty desperate.

I am wondering if it'd be possible to use an element from a comparable machine, does anybody have any idea? 1st-line has most parts in stock but not the heating element. It's a 1200w -

I see some that look similar, I am just not sure if the size of the opening will be the same. Since these screw in .... particularly the rocket element is pretty much the same specs. The connectors are no issue but I am not sure if the thread of the opening in the boiler will be the same.

The threads on the heating element are BSPP threads. As but an EXAMPLE, the Quickmill Hx models have 1-1/4 - 11 threading. 1-1/4" BSPP threading has an OD of ~41.91 mm or ABOUT 1-5/8".

I BELIEVE (from memory) that the Rocket models utilize 1" BSPP threading which has an OD of ~33.25 mm or ABOUT 1-5/16".

Thank you erics, any help I can get is a big help.

I measured the thread with a regular tape measure just measuring from one side to the other start to finish on the outer diameter of the thread and it appears to be about 33mm. I don't have an OD tape but straight measure outer thread to outer thread it's around 33mm.

Seems like maybe the rocket element will work, the internal in a Giotto are similar to my machine (Nuova Era Cuadra)

Update: Anyone in this same situation - 1st line should get new elements soon. Nuova Era italy emailed me saying they shipped them.

I took a risk and bought a rocket giotto element based on the advice erics gave me. The oring gasket and thread size are identical. The wire connectors are not, the ones on the giotto have a different clip but it takes about 2 seconds to fix that.

Works, the elements are identical.
