Mine arrived a couple days ago and all of my brews so far have a gross minerally taste and smell. I've tried soaking in boiling water and that only helped a little. If I can't get rid of it completely it will become a paper weight.

Try to burn it with fire.

I got mine couple of days ago, and I managed some comparison tests.
With standard semi-course pour-over grind the extraction is about 1:30 minutes longer than v60. The taste is less aggresive, more balanced, softer and cleaner - goes well with acidic Kenyan coffees, but - honestly - nothing special. I expected richer, more aromatic brews.
But today I brewed espresso grind - my gosh, that was good! Extraction didn't take much longer, but the brew was so full of flavor and yet balanced, it reminded me a little bit the vietnamese brewer, but was much more clear.
But - so far - aeropress is my no.1, for its versatility :)
