Baby Gaggia problems

Hi, I'm new here, this is my first post.
I have two Baby Gaggia espresso machines (white body with four red lights on front) which have faithfully worked well for me for years. This morning, however, one of them made a loud gurggling sound and shot a little hot steam out of the discharge hose when I released the 'start' button. The shot poured correctly, but I felt like the machine smelled hotter than normal. Any ideas?
The other machine, which I have not used in about a year, will not allow water to come out of the 'head'. It worked fine when I got it, but after descaling it, this problem started. I took everything apart, and when the start button is depressed, I can see water circulating into the head, but it does not seem to reach the portafilter connection area. Could something be clogging a passageway as a result of descaling?
Thanks for any advice.
