I don't think the Ottomatic is in keeping with the Chemex ethos. In terms of design, and function; I am not alone in the opinion that the Chemex brewers are a timeless classic. You can find several Chemex brewers on display at the NYC MoMA. In terms of design, and function, the Ottomatic however, does not hold up. My guess is that the Ottomatic was rushed to market to compete with the likes of the Ratio, and Wilfa. The Wilfa looks better, but has a hot plate. The Ratio looks to be a much better brewer. If I were in the market for an 'automated pour-over' device (I'm not), I would buy the Ratio.

I could be mistaken but I believe the Ottomatic is produced by Wilfa

Wilfa machines are assembled in China. Ottomatic made in Ireland. So maybe not??
