Just to follow-up... a new spring and mushroom were added along with a pressure gauge.

Thanks for posting that. Since I have no sightglass this confirms I probably have the right mushroom and spring swapped in. I'll confirm with an OE steam wand gauge and will post that on the 1961 Europiccola restoration thread.
