Hey guys,
I picked up a z9 this morning with the MD 50 grinder, they were used over 10 years ago in a coffee shop. I need some pointers on what to look at and what to be careful for, if anyone has done it before. Both are quite fifty, but the owner (friend of a friend) said that they worked great last time he tried. I have unmounted the metal, am planning to repaint. Will be posting pictures later

I rebuilt an old VFA a while back but not a Rancilio. I would start by dipping all the piping in descaler and taking the boiler in to get acid dipped. If you need any replacement parts cafeparts.com sells them all for a great price. Also make sure during the rebuild that you replace all of the gaskets, washers and screens.
Roast it, Grind it, Brew it!.. Enjoy it!..

Great find.
One of my ongoing projects is a 4 Group Z9.
Suggestions so far, from what I learned.

- Take care of the parts, not everything is av. e.g. Boiler fill !!
I powdercoated everything. My paint guy suggests to go to the powdercoater, because it will be more durarble.
I avoided acid dripping I'd liked the factory NI look more that a CU look after acid dripping.
