I was considering to buy a refurbished Baratza Preciso grinder which is $240 and now I have the option to buy a used Rancilio MD40 for $150. Also I saw new burrs for the MD40 for $50 in case that is necessary. What is your recommendation.

I would get the MD 40 over the Preciso for 2 reasons. Build quality. The MD40 will outlast the Presico hands down as well as the burrs. The Larger Burrs on the MD 40 will grind faster too.
Roast it, Grind it, Brew it!.. Enjoy it!..

$140 for an MD40 may be too good to pass up. Your sure its not a Rocky? And its in functional condition?

I don't know that the espresso quality will really be that much better than preciso (I've never owned an MD40, but I did own a Mazzer Mini, which is the same general class of light commercial grinder), but the commercial build quality means that in a home environment it will basically last forever.

In the Preciso's favor, it doubles as a great brew grinder, is smaller, and is designed more for home use.
