I had notice that I was getting inconsistent grinds from my Baratza Preciso. After taken it apart to see if cleaning would help I notice 2 cracks in the plastic housing that holds the burr. The machine is 9 months old and the company was quick to respond and will send another housing. My question is has any else had this problem. If so is there a fix or should i just purchase a few extra plastic housings. Thanks Will

There are other threads about this. Baratza calls the weak plastic holder a safety feature, since it will break before other more difficult-to-replace parts break. Like a bicycle derailleur hanger. It's likely that the breaking prevented damage to your grinder from a foreign object, although it's hard to say. The numbers baratza has run indicate that you don't need to load up on these holders.

I had the same problem not too long after I got mine. They sent me a replacement and a spare. I haven't had to use the spare and haven't had a problem in over a year.
