I looked at the linked guide.
Not sure I want to make dents on my shower screen.
I'm going to continue using my thin plastic screw

sorry I didn't quite understand your original explanation. do you have a picture/diagram/video to deomonstrate it? I don't think a dent is going to have any detrimental effect on either the brewing quality or the e61 brew head, but if you can reliably remove the gasket without making a dent, that's obviously a better solution.

One e61 newbie question, does the precision shower screen really make a difference in tasting? I'm using a bottomless portafilter, the extraction already looks consistently great to me and I can't find any fault in it, though I'm still playing with the number of seconds to wait before turning off the lever after the hissing(flash boiling) sounds ends during flushing.

Yes, I have to admit that my english is not so good.
Next time I will do maintenance I'm going to take a video.
However you have to take just a very thin screw and screw it somewhere in the narrow slot between the gasket (on its external perimeter) and the metal of the group.
