I have run into a bit of an issue with my machine, after every flush the heating cycle will be accompanied with loud boiler like noises, but if I backflush the machine the noise will vanish, even when the boiler kicks in, and the machine is quiet under warm up and after I pull shots as well.

So I doubt it's scale on the heating element.
