So I like the occasional Greek coffee and I decided, while holiday shopping, to grab a new Ibrik from Sur la Table. How complicated could it be, right?
Wrong. There are giant warnings all over the bottom that say I'm going to be exposed to lead if I don't wash my hands immediately after using the thing. Is that standard for Turkish coffee drinkers?
It's one of those brass ones with a brass handle. Looks like i need to upgrade again...

Just ordered one that won't kill me from Sweet Maria's, which is what I should have done in the first place.

You may be getting more lead right out of your faucet. Federal standards still allow supposedly "lead free" brass fittings to contain 8% lead by weight. An interesting read: http://www.loe.org/shows/segments.html? ... egmentID=5

If you had bought it in California, you'd probably have to sign a waiver at the cash register, with neon lights flashing Prop 65 warnings right next to the display case
