Again, we have seen the brain box melting in less than 2% of all machines sold. Vibiemme has been notified from the first unit as we notify them on almost everything.
There are 2 screws on the bracket that holds the brain unit. Please reinstall to the lower screw. This will bring the brain unit down a little further, but it can also expose the top of the brain unit to water spillage. So, be careful. The lowering will allow more air space above the brain.
As for timers, it may be proven that they can not theoretically cause surges, but from my practical experience, I have seen too many instances of electrical damage to espresso machines on 110 volt machines when plugged into timers.

Folks, I've also had to replace the psat, and within 2 years of purchase. Also had to replace lever and LED unit.
Not stoked about the amount of repair required in truth.
