My steam handle broke this morning. There is a notch at the end of the bar that the knob pushes against that broke off. This is probably my fault, as when I open the steam, I spin the knob all the way out (sometimes very quickly). It looks like 3 years of doing that caused the metal notch to fatigue and eventually break.

For replacement, can I just replace the bar, or do I need to buy the whole assembly?

Found parts list here. Have a look. http://www.espressocompany.com.au/spare ... .03.09.pdf

Thanks for the link. It looks like I would have to buy the entire assembly (part A227704280).

Could I just take the part to a machine shop and have them weld a new lip, or is it too small?

Most likely its too small. And the intense heat would destroy the seals - if you take it apart, you'd probably have to replace the seals anyway.

This is why I hate those spin valves.
