If the Compak switch is priced like the Mazzer SJ/Major switches it may cost $80-$100 to replace. For me the foot switch was all about convenience. Having both hands free to dose & sweep speeds things along.

Why not price the switch now, just in case.
I agree with the earlier posting regarding years before you'd have to worry.
Worry more about getting a stone in her.
