I have a v3 Vibiemme, which has been in use since February 2011. During the past few weeks the display on the PID is not working correctly--some of the blue LED lights are not fully illuminating. So for example, because of the LED glitch, when the PID is measuring 199 F it actually reads 195 F (I think this because the PID will blip up from what appears to be 195 to 200). Has anyone else experienced this issue?

The PID display can certainly have some of the little line burned out just like any other device that uses the same type of technology,
we sold less then half a dozen in all these years (at least us Stefano's Espresso Care)
however the temperature of the control box should not be affected by it.

Stefano

Thanks for the reply. Can I replace the LED lights? Or is that nothing for a specialist like you?

I have a VBM DD v2 and have two segments of my blue LED that are no longer working. I've not yet decided to buy the replacement part.

Looking at the photo on 1st-line's site, assuming you can get the board out, it might just be a drop-in replacement. That's a 3-digit 7-segment display, which are pretty cheap online (blue ones, oddly, are much more expensive at around $10, a quick search found me red ones for less than $1). Might be worth looking in to as a much cheaper solution than a $250 part.

LED burn out eventually. You just have to swap out the display, like changing a light bulb.

I got the board out and the LED does easily come out. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a match for the model number on the web. It wasn't quite clear what type to buy.
