I'm looking for some info on modding my GS/3 steam wand to be foot-activated. I've been looking around (here and elsewhere on the web) and have found little info to help. I'm looking for some resources to help me out, in terms of where to get parts and as well as possibly info on physical modification (parts diagrams, how-to's, etc).
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Espresso Parts used to sell the parts to outfit the La Marzocco Mistral. Did the Mistral get phased out with the introduction of the Strada?
Here is a place that has the parts:

Click the foot pedal link. It will tell you to look at Mirage group component parts diagram to see the rest of the parts. Download that. Page 14 shows the whole set up. It looks like it is basically an air pump activating a pressure switch to trigger a 2 way solenoid valve to open. I think you can make this happen waaaay cheaper if you are willing to get a little crafty. The 2 way solenoid valve sitting behind the steam valve (or replacing the steam valve if you want) is the essence of the thing. Then just wire it up and find an electronic foot switch to activate the solenoid to open.

Johnny - excellent. Thanks, this will certainly get me started.
EspressoParts doesn't seem to be dealing in Mistral parts any longer.

John Borella (JohnB) did it for his Speedster. I recall him saying somewhere that it was the most useful mod he's made. Allthough, when you're starting with a Speedster, you don't really need much in the way of modifications

That was the foot pedal control for my K10. There is a foot pedal option for the Speedster & I do know one owner that has it. You can probably see some pics on Kees' site. If the parts would work with the GS3 you could order them through Nasi @ http://www.coffeeshopsolutions.com/c-65 ... esten.aspx

Facepalm, my bad. I had it backwards, I thought you wired it to kick on the Speedster wand hand free.
