I will try to post pictures. I haven't done this before.

I followed the advice above.

First steam the milk, not looking to get expansive microfoam, just steamed milk and some froth on top. Pour into a clear cup.
Let it sit for a minute or two.
I then pulled the shot into a small metal brew pitcher with a spout.
Then slowly pour the espresso shot down the side of the cup. It does layer in between the foam and the milk. Very pretty.
