The frustration of single dosing four or five [actually n to 2^n depending on the remains] different coffees, never really getting to know one, is just not worth the extra prep hassle. BTDT.
I agree. I home roast, you order out. Your coffees are probably roasted better and more consistently. I get a huge variety of beans and samples coming through each year, most of which are one night stands and hate yourself in the morning beans. Some of these I roast and pull every week. I also roast a mega-dose cappa blend (50% Kenya dark, 50% Colombia or Guatemala medium). Finally I roast a few of my favorites each week.
FWIW. I put the basket on a scale which sits on the grinder fork. I adjust the grind setting, spoon in two measures of coffee, eyeballing the rough dose, grind, and then sweep the chute and pulse the grinder a few more times. I turn on the scale, and fill the basket. This all takes about 30 seconds. I spend another ten seconds flushing the Elektra and level-tamping. The doser gets cleaned out while the shot pulls. With both Elektras running, I can pull a shot a minute, of different coffees, at different doses and grind settings; with one Elektra, the delay knocking out the puck and flushing the group adds another 15 seconds or so. Not a hassle.
