Shot mirror

Postby Javacat on Sun Dec 11, 2011 2:38 am

Anyone tried one of the shot mirrors that EPNW is offering (a la Slayer)? Looks like it might be a pain to keep clean, but it looks like a nice gadget to avoid having to crouch underneath to look at the shot.

I am sure you could DIY something for significantly less money, but $20 for the smallest mirror isn't too terrible. It's something I've wanted to add to my machines for ages, but ordering a single item from EPNW isn't feasible for me.

If you mount a mirror against the espresso machine's front plate, do you have to put a chandelier on the cup warmer and wear a sequined jacket?

I have one. I cut it shorter to fit my machine better.

It can be quite helpful if you're tired of bending over to see the extraction, and it's not in the way. It cleans up with a wipe of a towel. You do need to have decent lighting though.

I use this mirror from harbor Freight. I simply sits on my drip tray.

Just steal a used makeup powder from your wife or girlfriend.

Or buy this from Target for $2.99.

This is the brand, if you need to show it to the person at the store.

You could bling out your coffee machine with lots of mirrors - like the mods did in the 60's to their vespa scooters - like the guy on the quadrophenia movie.

That's nothing, I am working on shot video analyzer that captures in HD and analyzes your naked extraction in real-time and provides suggestions on shot improvements through bluetooth on your iPhone. No Android's please. That way you don't have to watch the extraction at all, just read the expert analysis on your iPhone. Actually you don't even have to taste espresso. Analysis AI engine is that good!

Actually if you look again at my picture you'll notice the 4 round and 1 long chambers at the bottom. This is where samples are being collected and analyzed. Obviously TDS is only where it starts, but regretfully I can not divulge more information due to restrictions on private intellectual property. I've removed these units before taking the pictures. Please forgive me.
