Plumbing in a La Cimbali Junior

Postby t3steve on Fri Dec 11, 2009 9:11 pm

I recently bought an old La Cimbali Junior D. I eager to plumb it so I just went to Home Depot and on the advise of one of the plumbing experts bought 3/8 plastic line and compression fittings that use a brass ferule and brass sleeve inside instead of the push on John Guest style. I had one fitting fail ( the tubing came out to the fitting) a couple of days ago. I re-assembled it and cranked it down as tight as possible. Does the push together work better? The water pressure is 100psi. I am using (again on the recommendation of the HD guy) a 30psi regulator designed for drip sprinkler systems. (its large 1/2 or 3/4 inch fittings)

Any advise?

Stay with the 3/8" line but go with the John Guest/Watts fittings.

I would also suggest that you think about putting a pressure reducer/regulator onto your water line for the house since 100 psi is on the high side.

I would also try to get a smaller pressure regulator since you are dealing with both small volumes and low pressures compared to irrigation systems.

I have never had any trouble with the John Guest fittings and I have been running my Vivaldi II for almost 3 years.

My street water pressure is about 120 - 140 psi, the reducer takes it down to about 60 - 70 going into the house and my regulator before the Vivaldi takes it down to 25 psi going into the coffee maker.

Good luck,
Mark
