Valuable information for the OP. It really "bottom lines" the practical use and meaning of the read out, and defuses the anxiety connected with spurious data far better than any of the previous posts.

When I install PIDs on machines, I now put them out-of-sight. The information presented is too confusing unless you really understand what's going on with the system.

When I put the first PID on one of Intelligentsia's machines, I remember some folks freaking out because the numbers were jumping all over the place while they were jamming away brewing shots. "Those numbers aren't what you think they are."

I would agree except I like seeing it. Education is the key. One needs to understand the usefulness and lack of usefulness of the display. But I agree for employees of a cafe, they don't need to see it.
