Hello all.

Thanks for everything I've learned from lurking.

I live in New York City (harlem) and have just become the owner of a 1977 La Pavoni Europiccola.

I need a 49mm tamper.

Is there anyone that lives in new york that has a favorite place to buy espresso tools and supplies?

Thanks again

Jason

I don't know about New York, but you can order any number of different tampers from espressoparts.com. How about a nice HB logo tamper with a 49mm base?

Chris' Coffee Service has a 48mm Reg Barber tamper listed. Not sure if the 1mm makes a difference. They're in Albany.

I just checked 1st Line (in NJ) and they have a 49mm flat tamper as well.

I haven't asked Dave if they're still available, but a personalized LMWDP tamper would be even better:

Notice the similarity between this photo and the one in the site masthead; the transformation was the fine work of Old Time Design:

Nice. I didn't realize the HB tampers were still available. Guess I'll have to add a 53mm one to my wishlist. I haven't joined the LMWDP ranks (yet) so will just go for one of the "regular" ones.

I got the second HB tamper to leave espressoparts. Right after that they changed the logo on the handle so it is somewhat unique.

The nice thing about getting a major brand is that you can swap out pistons. So if you change machines in a few years you can just change the piston. It is a little cheaper doing that. If you want to try different piston shapes you can also swap them around.
