Interesting idea, I have ever found any need for distribution anyway, may be the reality of using a big commercial lever, although I dont bother with the Caravel either. Both have naked PF's too. Not sure if the HG-1 is also part of the reason its not needed, but conversly I had a K10 and didnt need it with that either.
I can see the attraction of this compared to dicking around with a needle or something!

That's the idea.galumay wrote:I can see the attraction of this compared to dicking around with a needle or something!
For anyone that's interested, I put a video of my actual espresso prep routine on the website. It's on the technique page http://www.sifdis.com/?page_id=104

Would like to see how the pour looks on a bottomless portafilter. Does this device help to create a single drip stream more consistently?

Yes I believe so. The promo video on my home page has a clip of a pour in it. I can quite consistently do pours that look like that.

I've mulled saying this, but it was part of the request for feedback.
My grinder is setup for single dosing and I'm not finding distribution issues through the use of the slapshot technique that Doug at OE has video'd. The slap shot process takes about 2-3 seconds, is free, doesn't add any equipment, and I'm not waiting 30 seconds a shot.
I'd be cautious investing capital in this project.

That's great. Maybe your just better than me at distribution. Or maybe I have a higher standard for perfection. In any case, I'll wait 30 seconds for a (hopefully) better shot any day.jwCrema wrote:My grinder is setup for single dosing and I'm not finding distribution issues through the use of the slapshot technique that Doug at OE has video'd.

The video is cut short, what is your typical shot time? For me to get a single drip like that my timing has to be too short, around 20 seconds.
Do you have a rough idea of the price?

My typical parameters are about 18g in 30-40g out in 30 seconds. I start timing from when I see the first beads of coffee on the bottom of the basket.
We don't really have a rough idea of price yet. We are working to get it as low as possible before we say any numbers.
