That's a 35cl (12oz) spouted pitcher. I typically steam 3-4oz of milk for a double capp.

You must have big hands or it was the camera angle because it looked like it was about half that size. A 6oz steaming pitcher would be a perfect size to use for individual capps, no?

Not really. Probably just the camera angle. I do find it easier to control the pour if I grab the pitcher rather than the handle, though. I suspect that my fundamental problem with latte art is lack of real interest (and impatience  ).

I've also got a 12oz straight sided pitcher, and a smaller 10oz pitcher. The 10oz requires more skillful handling to avoid overflowing. Less milk? Well, it only takes 15-20sec to froth 4oz on my Vetrano, and I'd rather not reduce the time any further. Kitty gets any extra foam. :)

It is no challenge, but I hope to receive some valuable hints, how to improve the frothing.
The vid is poor quality, since I used my mobile phone.

I do not succeed in getting evenly creamy milk for cappuccino, milk always separates from the foam.
The pitcher was kept in the freezer, to elongate the process, but....no real success.

I use Europiccola, single basket. (I tampered too much in the vid)
3,5% whole milk.

Hi everyone,

I got an NS Appia recently and hooked it up to the water supply last night. My friend took this video for me this morning. I have to second cannonfodder that it is fun to steam with a big boiler. It takes less than 20 seconds to steam 9 ounce of milk for a latte and I need to be very careful not to overstretch it. The milk was a little bit overstretched for this cup so I couldn't get nice definition of the rosetta. My friend thinks this latte is extremely sweet although the beans are more than one week post roast. I hope that I can improve my latte art skills more after getting used to steaming with the Appia. For espresso extraction I am yet to order another bottomless portafilter because the rancilio bottomless doesn't fit the group head of the Appia. Too bad I am going back to my home country next week for one month before getting back to play with the Appia again. I will have more to report in the future :) .

Awesome rosetta Puchang! I think yours is probably the best posted yet on this thread. Love that machine too.

Hi Beezer,

Thanks. I'm still learning. Steaming for a latte with the Appia is fast but fun. Steaming for a cappa is even faster and more difficult to be consistent because the whole process takes 10 seconds at most. Hopefully I will have a decent cappa pour as soon as possible.

Ethan, you are welcome to stop by and play with the Appia when you come to Bloomington next time :D .

It just makes life so easy. Steaming on my Isomac is painfully slow after getting use to a 6L boiler.

Maybe I will get a chance to give it a go tomorrow and offer up my meager attempt.
