Francesco,

I think it would be easier and cost less to just get another standard portafilter and take it to a machine shop and have them drill or machine the bottom off for you. That is the way they are made and it would save shipping cost.

I agree with Randy, modifying a standard portafilter will be easier and cost less. The thread How To Make Your Own Naked Portafilter shows how several people modified theirs using various tools. The most common do-it-yourself method is a drill press and hole saw:

Taking it to a machine shop is another option. Around here, it will cost less than $25. Troldborg shows how the shops do it in Yet another way of making your own bottomless portafilter:

You maybe heading in the wrong direction. Improve your espresso by tasting, not viewing.

Assuming you are dosing correctly, you'll end up being bored by shot after shot beading and flowing evenly.

OTOH, if you are interested in the taste difference, have at it.

I still think that a bottomless PF is a great tool for analysing the extraction / one's own distribution and packing technique.

@ Francesco: http://www.pasmarose.de has a selection of bottomless portafilters at fairly reasonable prices and they do deliver to Italy.

A modified portafilter will work with whatever basket works with the standard portafilter. In some cases the extra room allows triple baskets for portafilters it would otherwise not fit in (e.g., a triple basket in the Rancilio commercial portafilter). I assume you mean a single basket (7 grams) and it certainly should be no problem.

Below is an example single from Videos of espresso extractions, contributed by Dave (cannonfodder):
