I have problem understanding how to perfect the dosage for 2 different baskets(single and double) with 1 grinder.

I have a grinder which has a timer that says (1), (2) or (3) doses.
I can set it in between.

I measured the timing.

(1) = 5 seconds
(2) = 12 seconds.

I'm not sure why is it (2) not double.

Well this is the problem.

I calibrated my grindings to work with a single filter basket and it gives a nice espresso at (1) setting.
When i switch to (2) and i use the double basket, the flow is quite different.

Am i doing it wrong?

Should it be:
<1> The settings for the (1), (2) or (3) only meant for double baskets? Should not be used for both single and double?
<2> Should i calibrate from (2) on a double basket first? Rather than (1) on a single basket?

what grinder do you have.
