Grind setting and amount of coffee for drip brew

Postby Brad on Wed Nov 21, 2007 8:09 am

Here is a drip brew question.

I am going to take some fresh roasted coffee to the family tomorrow and will need to grind is before I go. Here is the situation, I have not made drip coffee in 8+ years, I do not even own a drip coffee maker. Here are some questions, on my pasquini grinder, the standard setting of 9 is great for espresso, what should I try as a setting for drip? How much coffee per pot of drip coffee, is there a general rule? Thanks for the help.

When making coffee for guests, I use the Presto Scandi drip

48 oz of water to 52 grams of coffee, ground to play sand consistency.

I hope this helps.

Have a nice Thanks Giving day,

Check out this, it should help (make sure you resize the photo to 100%):

The general standard set by the SCAA for brew ratio is 55 grams per liter (~34 ounces). Many people, including myself, tend to lean more toward 60 grams per liter depending on the coffee and brew method (higher doses can be commonly seen with methods like a Clover and sometimes the Chemex).
