I like to clean my edges. EVERYTIME I've tapped after a full tamp I've lost my puck in the sink after just tipping it to get some "loosies" out of the basket. If you tap before a full tamp than it's fine. Knocking the PF definitely dislodges the puck and will always lead to donut extractions. I guess it makes sense that disturbing the puck after preparation is always a bad idea.
