The Espro is a nice tamper and, in my opinion, it is a marvelous tool for those learning to grind, prep and tamp. It is one consistent element needed and one less the barista has to worry about in the process. So, you grind to fit the 30# tamp. Never understood why it had to be 30#, why not 10# or 5#? I am sure there is some history regarding the standard to be 30#. Over time I have evolved to a much lighter tamp and I think there is a relationship between this and the quality of the drink. My tamps are in the 5-10# range.
