Coffee Klatch Barista Training?

Postby Thatchmo on Tue Mar 03, 2009 6:35 pm

Has anyone here taken the Coffee Klatch training classes, either the one day or three day?

I am considering the one day course and was curious if anyone has heard anything about it?

Thanks,

Kirk

I've considered it, but the $500 price tag is a bit hard to swallow. Still, you would be getting hands-on training from US barista champ Heather Perry, which would be pretty cool. I guess it just depends on whether you're willing to pay a fairly high price for the best training you can find.

Yeah...I know it's pricy, especially these days, but I am getting the feeling that I am hitting a wall with what I can learn from HB and elsewhere on the internet...A friend's daughter came over who works at SBux in Australia and showed me how to steam milk and that helped immensely...Steaming is now solid and I wish I could get some pointers on the rest of the process in a "hands on" scenario.

Now that I have made the jump to highly regarded( and highly priced!!!) equipment...I don't have anything else to blame for a sub-par shot except me!!!

So if anyone has taken the class, or if you know someone who has, please sound off!!! You can PM me if you don't want it to announce your feelings about it to the world.

Thanks again,

Kirk

These are well worth the money. Heather has been giving these classes for years and used to give easy-to-follow lessons (for free) at SCAA consumer events. BTW, Heather will also train you in your home with your own machinery, which actually might cost you less, if you don't need the entire class. She charges by the hour.
