hello all,

while i am waiting for my M5 grinder to arrive, i have kept trying to get something out from my pre-ground coffee. here are my results:

if i use about 10g coffee instead of the 8 (i am doing single shots) and i tamper it well, i have my shot in about 29 seconds. now looking at the pressure meter: at the beginning the pressure goes up to 12 (red range) and after it drops back to about 6 and stays like that until the blow off valve cuts in.

my question is: what shall i read on the pressure meter when i am doing a proper extraction?

Depends on what your brew pressure is set at. It will take a couple seconds to ramp up to full pressure, then hold steady until you stop the extraction. If it ramps up then slowly declines, you grind is not right and the water is blowing through the puck or you have channeling problems.
