thanks already!
I have one and I do really like it. It's a bit small for weighing the PF however. I use the plastic case it came in to get my PF to rest on top but its not the easiest thing to do. I am really considering buying an Acaia Pearl just for weighing the PF/dose, its quite a bit bigger than the Brewista so it should make the task much easier. I will keep the Brewista just for shot weighing/timing.

Yes it does :). Since that post I have tried it. I have stopped using the auto tare and timer mode for espresso volume, however. The response time was slow and it didn't start the weight or timer until three or for seconds after the first drops hit the cup. Now that I have the Londinium R pretty much dialed it I use the scale to weight the dose and then manually start the timer for the shot time and watch for the espresso to start to blond.

Does the Brewista have a shot timer function like the Lunar?

I just got it from amazon a couple of days ago. I will be returning it, not quite happy.
1. The espresso timer function does not always work. Already several times, the timer does not start during the extraction. Sometimes it does, sometimes not.

2. At the end of the extraction the timer does not stop. You have to immediately remove the cup from the scale to make it stop. But what is the point then? It is just like using a separate timer.

3. Obviously pre infusion time cannot be detected by the scale.

I had one of the first. I think I got it end of January. It can take a beating. Not waterproof as some have said. But no problem with water/coffee spills. I brew exclusively on Naked PF so the regular spraying will end up there.

It is faster than v1.

Timer function works well cor me. Read the instructions if it doesn't because there are several ways to do it.

Battery life is amazing. Only charged it when it arrived, still seeing half of the battery, used on a daily basis to weight PF and shots.

I do work in a lab environment and have access to highly accurate/precise balances (Mettler Toledo, 5 digits). I used my calibration kit with it and comoared ot to the lab balance. Pretty impressive results, given the price.

Will be happy to answer any doubts you guys have so just quote me if needed.

Just checked it again. Mode #5. The timer does not start, though. May be I have a defective scale?

But in any case, I did not find it particularly useful. The times starts when the first few drops are in the cup, not when the preinfusion starts. And in order to stop the timer you have to immediately remove the cup from the scale. So, for me there is no advantage as compared to 2x cheaper Hario, where you should press the button to start and to stop the timer.

Will be returning it.

I thought that as first as well. One needs to be aware of the sequence of operation. Otherwise you can be unsure of where you are in the process. I turn mine off between shots so that I am sure that an inadvertent bump hasn't put me further along than I realize. I use mode 5 for espresso. I lock the porta filter in place, turn on the scale and set the cup on the scale. I watch that the scale zero the cup then turn on the espresso machine. Works every time for me. A little trickier in pourover mode. Choose mode 6, set the pourover device on the scale and observe the scale tare. Add your coffe, check the weigh and shake to level. Now manually hit the tare button and begin pouring. The only failures I have had when I inadvertently have gotten out of sync with the steps.

The only thing I would add is a way to go backwards through the modes or a way to set favorites/renumber. Using a second button to move backwards through the modes might be a possiblility.

I have one and I don't think it is fast enough. I have to slow down as I tap in the last .1-3 grams of ground coffee I add to the basket. It is always behind in the weight it shows during a shot.

I am wondering if 3x more expensive Acaia Lunar stops timing with the last drop of coffee. To me, only this would justify the purchase.

My question to you is: how could a scale know that was the last drop? Maybe there will be one more and one more... the only way this could work is if the espresso machine had a gate that closed and informed the scale. Otherwise the scales logic would have to build in time while it watched and waited thus making the ending time inaccurate.
