Postby BigBlaze on Fri Dec 23, 2011 12:54 pm

Hi,

My Ascaso - iSteel Duo Prof Tronic comes with this 3-hole steam tips to froth milk, I can't get micro foam.

Does any body has the proper technique using this tip? With the regular steam tip, I get pretty good results.

Attach to this post are, images of the 3 holes steam tip and the regular tip.

Thank you,

BigBlaze

I have no experience with that particular machine or tip, but in general getting proper microfoam is a matter of putting the tip in the proper part of the pitcher to make a nice vortex so that the milk "folds" into itself and incorporates air into the liquid. With my four-hole tip it seems to work best to put the tip close to one side and tilt the pitcher slightly toward me. This creates the proper turbulence. Then it's just a matter of sucking in a bit of air and letting the milk swirl until it's hot enough.
