EDIT: I opened the grinder again today and realized why I saw a lot of coffee in the housing in the above comment: It was leftovers from the top funnel. I should have turned the grinder on before opening it to clear those out completely. Having done so today, it was pretty clean in the housing and on the burrs. The burrs were as clean as the Mazzer.

I have been lifting the front of the M3 an inch or so off of the counter and then letting it drop gently. This maneuver combined with turning the M3 on and off shakes out a lot of grinds. If you are going to try this be careful, the M3 may go out of alignment if dropped with any force.

I rather agree with Randy on this. While I like my M3 a great deal, I'd not be tempting the alignment gods that way. Turn it on again for a second a minute after grinding and all that stuff will drop out, or put it next to the knock box and the shock through the counter will do the same.

I've been on H-B too long to sneak this into the newbie hall of shame :oops:

Once the wiper was properly adjusted, turning the grinder on and off did the job just fine. Thanks for setting it straight.

Wiper only cleaning leaves behind a fair amount of grounds when the coffee has been ground very fine. A fine, long bristle brush will remove a bit more.

This thread is great. It served me well in staying away from this great piece of design that the M3 is, and put my money on a company with many years of experience making just grinders.

I have owned my M3 for 1 1/2 years now, and couldn't be happier. It is the BEST coffee equipment purchase I made. Sure it was expensive, but once you own an M3 you put to rest grinder upgrade-itis for good. End of story.
