Very likely.
But it will also be a hell of a lot easier to use than a Pharos and much cheaper than a HG-One.

You could say the same for every hand grinder. They will always be a niche product as most folks don't want to grind by hand. I'll be comparing my Rok grinder to my Lido 2 when mine arrives. As long as this still has no better static solution than 'you're on your own', with counterintuitive and frankly ridiculous workarounds such as adding water to the beans (only known to those who visit forums), this will stay a niche product and there won't be a mass market to speak of.

I agree! My Lido 2 has some static issues, but I would not discount it just for that. Is there a hand grinder that is NOT a niche product?

Well, bigger isn't necessarily better. I have both the HG One and the Lido 3. The HG One is certainly more convenient in a stationary setup. But, I cannot say that the HG One makes a better shot than the Lido 3 though. I can only say that the HG One makes a DIFFERENT shot. I love the fact that I can change the flavor profile of the same beans by simply switching between these two grinders. It's simply a matter of taste.Really? I can see it being a good starter grinder for folks on a limited budget, but I doubt it will really be competing in the same space as the HG-one with the listed specs. 48mm burrs, and 60 turns for a double shot, suggest that it will fall behind on both convenience and shot quality. This looks more like it will be competing with the Preciso or the Lido2 for folks who are trying to get acceptable shots on a very tight budget.
If the ROK coffee grind is as good as the Lido 3, it'll be a great alternative.
In terms of construction, the HG One is still the king, but at a price.

This is true. However, the hand grinders that deliberately add time between grinding and taking out a drawer and have a slower grinding speed seem to be less affected.JohnB. wrote:You could say the same for every hand grinder. Still, no real solutions here which to me makes the ROK grinders addition to the marketplace questionable. But then again, I never understood the recent explosion of very similar new hand grinders in the marketplace.

Haven't gotten it yet, but will some blind taste tests with steel v ceramic burrs v the 58mm burr on the Mazzer.
I spent less money on the ROK that comes with both steel and ceramic burrs than I did modifying a Pharos. This grinder is less than a tank of gas in a different hobby. If it doesn't work I'll toss it.

We are starting to use two thread's without a clear subject of discussion in either of them.
ROK Coffee Grinder (Indiegogo)
With the grinder now arriving in homes around the globe, maybe it's an idea to close one or two and start a owners experience thread?
Those threads always help me out a great deal when I'm considering a purchase.
