Any idea how well the SJ does with single dosing? Does it need pressure from the bean hopper to produce great results? What I'm afraid with the lelit is that I've heard you need to at least fill the hopper up to a certain level to achieve a good grind.

Their factory is only a few minutes away from me, so I sent them a message through their website. A lady named Pauline just replied and said all of their products are made in Taiwan. Now that may also mean that some components are sourced elsewhere. I don't know.
I think you'll have better success asking the questions in your last post in a new thread. I don't know how many people will see it buried in this one.

There are more and more SJ like grinders in China. Many sellers in "taobao" (a China shopping website, just like eBay) said the grinders are made in Taiwan. Some of them even said they are Taiwan brands because even Chinese don't trust the quality of made in China.

I have a grinder very similar to this, under the brand "HeyCafe".
It is very good. Please note that the burrs it comes with are likely of very low quality and should be replaced with original Mazzer ASAP.
Otherwise, motor and build-quality wise, it is very good. Never used a genuine Mazzer, but to me, the grinder is great.

Yeah I would be getting the grinder from taobao too. I think I'll get this 900n and try it out when I have the cash. Not sure where to get original mazzer burrs though, most of the US retailer shipping to singapore cost too much.

I recently ordered from an American seller with reasonable shipping costs:

Although I would do more research, based on what I've heard here, it sounds like a good grinder for the money...unless I found something else or had a much higher budget, if I were in OP's situation I would go for it.
If anyone does, be sure to report back with how it goes.
As to the Super Jolly...I liked mine when I had it, ultimately I ended up upgrading into conicals and found that they were easier for me to use, but generally more expensive.

There is the Taiwan Feima 900N made by Yang-Chia (Taiwan) and then there are the Chinese Pegasus/Dawlish/Faema 'equivalents'. I advise interested parties to check carefully.
Here is the Feima model on their website:

And a sample of the Chinese versions available on Taobao and Aliexpress, et al:

FWIW, Yang-Chia quoted me $360 (inclusive of delivery to Kuala Lumpur) for the 900N back in June. Might as well order from them or Bellataiwan.

Might be the Laranzato?SlowRain wrote:It's from a company in Taiwan called Yang Chia (Yang family). The brand is called Feima (literally: flying horse). I think most people who buy them here are satisfied. They sell mainly to cafes in Asia, but I thought they were available in the US at one time under an Italian-sounding name. Can't remember.

Yeah I'll be getting it from taobao. Found a seller that claims it's the Taiwan model and the are many good reviews. And people confirm that it's from Taiwan by emailing and checking with Yang-Chia. Are the burrs that comes with it good? Or I'll be better of just changing it to the original sj straight.
Do you know if it fits the mini hopper from the mazzer mini?

Buy a pair of original SJ burrs right away.
Worst case, you have a spare pair of burrs.
