Izzo Alex Duetto steam boiler leak?

For the past two weeks, I've had to leave my Duetto off unless I was home and had the time to pre-heat it and shut it off, rather than turn the machine on at night before I go to bed. I woke up one morning to find the machine beeping and empty. Over the next few days, trying to troubleshoot the source and the problem, I was finally able to source the leaking sound, pictured below. Can anyone recommend a fix for this? It leaks pretty steadily now, all of the sudden, with no other external events occurring out of the ordinary.
I tried lowering the steam boiler pressure lower than what I had it before, it only lowered the volume of the leak. I couldn't really trouble shoot the problem with the unit cold, since it would be gone, and I didn't want to just randomly start wrenching on things when I have no clue what I'm doing. I know I can contact the vendor I bought it from, but I thought I'd ask here too, incase someone else has experienced this before.

Looks like a faulty over pressure safety valve. Sometimes from scale buildup, weak spring or bad seals. If it were me I'd just replace it. I believe others have had similar issues with those valves.

Its still under warranty, so I'll contact Chris' Coffee Service and ask them for help. Thank you. Im hoping its not a major, complicated repair, but on the bright side, I'd like to start learning how to repair and service my Duetto.

After seeing this, I emailed Chris's to see if I could source a replacement valve since my machine would hiss and had a slow leak when the steam boiler was on. Sure enough they had one in the mail to me the next day. Replacement took about 5 minutes. The replacement valve is a different design and is much beefier than the one my machine (from 2010) came with.

Hey Mute, is this new valve adjustable?
BTW, your old valve from 2010 looks identical to Tom's valve. So it doesn't look like anything changed. (Not going to open up mine to have a look...).
Anyone knows to what pressure the safety valve is set to, by the factory?

As a general rule, these valves should not be user adjustable. This is the safety valve that opens before the pressure in the boiler can become dangerous. They are factory adjusted, tested, and sealed (I think that is what the copper[?] plug on the side of the knurled top not is for). One of these that needs to be adjusted should be replaced and not messed with. Risk vs. gain.LaDan wrote:Hey Mute, is this new valve adjustable?

Note that "certified" safety valves cost more than twice the uncertified ones...
but just because it's certified, doesn't mean it's appropriate. It must be able to relieve pressure faster than the boiler can make pressure, so just because it blows off at 1.8 bar doesn't mean it can keep up with your 3-group 240V high wattage boiler.
I think I'm gonna have to slog through this:
http://www.isibang.ac.in/~library/onlin ... dbook3.pdf
and figure out the appropriate parameters for my boiler...
Steam sizing is on page 5-6

I had to pick up some deep metric sockets in order to pull the valve, but for the first time since early December, my unit is up and running, dead quietly. It awaits my first attempt tomorrow to pull some of Klatchs' Guatemala Covadonga . I'll be eager to see how well it steams now too. A quick purge a little bit ago, after it came up to temp certainly looked promising. It's been a long time since it's had this much grunt behind it.
