An interesting paper on packing volume for Platonic shapes.

I was surprised how little the random packing varies. However, these are all regular solids, with faces equidistant from the center; I wonder if this lack of variation would also hold for more irregular particles.

Dont make me break out the graphs of powder packing density vs uniaxial pressure!
