Have a Gaggia Classic espresso machine. It has started to drip excessively at the steam tube when I hit the brew button on the espresso machine. From past experience with my Saeco Aroma, whenever the steam tube started dripping excessively during brewing of espresso, it ended up needing a new o-ring at the steam wand/assembly. Does that sound like what could be the problem? Is this a simple job that anybody mechanically minded could replace? Thanks in advance!

This is a common problem with the Gaggia machines. The usual cause is the wear of the steam valve shaft.

Sid, do you know how to replace the o-ring on the steam shaft with the Gaggia Classic? I've had so much experience with the leaking on my old Saeco Aroma, La Pavoni Lusso in the same areas that ended up being what they called "minor" repairs of the o-rings on the wands. Help!!!
