Short answer: Spammers love Gmail, Yahoo, and Hotmail. I hate spammers. Ergo...

Long answer: Gmail is great for filtering spam, but regrettably they also enable spammers to register in droves. I wish that free e-mail providers took forum spammers seriously. I contacted them and they essentially said "we don't limit our services, you will have to handle it on your end." So I did -- by banning Gmail, Yahoo, and Hotmail. The number of forum spammers dropped to zero the next day.

Unfortunately more and more spam businesses are hiring people to do their dirty work instead of relying on automated software. It's impossible to deter a human spammer, except by banning their e-mail. At some point I need to craft a better solution. In the meantime, you can contact me offline to request your e-mail be unblocked.
