User control ?

Postby MUTTS on Sun Apr 10, 2011 2:01 pm

I seem to have misplaced the instructions for navigating at HB and I can't seem to find the link via search... How does one get back to the user control panel ? Similarly is there a simple way to access established bookmarks ? I know the link must be under my nose but I can't seem to find it (searching for two days now :? ).

Look under Options in the navigation bar.

Dan, the link works great (I'll bookmark it), but I don't see Options on the navigation bar ?

Would you post a screenshot, display resolution, and the user agent string? Mine is: "Browser is Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2.16) Gecko/20110319 Firefox/3.6.16 GTB7.1"

Display: 2560 x 1600.

User agent: Browser is Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 Firefox/3.6.13

You probably have the browser font size enlarged and "options" being the next-to-last choice is outside the margin of the frame. You probably do not see "logout" either as it comes after "options."
try "CTRL" + "-" to make the display font size smaller... just a thought.

No luck, but thanks for the suggestion. Indeed, when I open HB in IE rather than Firefox things are okay. I prefer FF but if there's no easy fix I do have the control panel bookmarked. 8)

Weird. For me, it's correct in Firefox on Mac and Windows. It's also correct in Safari and Internet Explorer. But looking at your screenshot, the link in the sub-navigation bar showing the list of forums and the "Return to News and Suggestion Box" link should be the same, but they're not. Looking more carefully at the CSS with Firebug, I see that the navigation and sub-navigation fonts were specified in pixels instead of em like the other navigation links. I've recoded them to use em instead; does that help?

Partially - the navigation bar now includes "Search" and "Inbox", but not "Options" or "Logout". Maybe diagnostic - before logging in, I can see "Search" and "Login". So perhaps something to do with sizing the width of the nav bar? Also, for the nav bar underneath, all of the links through "The Bench" are on one line on the "Home" page link, but on all of the other links with this nav bar, the word "Bench" wraps down to another line.

Would you post another screenshot? Ctrl+0 (zero) should reset the font to the normal size. Also check that you don't have a larger-than-normal font specified and the checkbox below is checked:

It couldn't hurt to try a Firefox update either (Help > Check for Updates).
