Recommend a more interactive espresso site

Postby chanty 77 on Sat Jul 10, 2010 10:46 am

Cam anyone recommend a more *interactive* espresso forum that I could go to in conjunction with this forum? I think people probably do more viewing on this site than replying--at least to my questions. I would really appreciate it!

Sorry for disappointing; you may have caught us at a distracted moment, or asked questions that have been answered lots of times before, and which can be found by doing a search. The CG forums are bigger, more sociable, and live in the sunshine of the eternal present.

You might also be interested in checking out the Gaggia forum on Yahoo! which is dedicated to just Gaggia machines.

I think I've noticed a decline in postings here and on CG lately, but it's coincided with my own scaling back on the amount of times I spend on the forums since I started a new job. Besides work, summer vacations may also be impacting the volume, nothing better then talking about coffee during the winter, but in the summer it may be time for family trips, etc. Then again, it may just be me and my own subjective impressions.

For what it's worth, late April through August are the forum's slow months of the year; traffic picks up as the holidays approach and peaks around February. Back to the original question, questions fail to draw replies because they're either uninteresting to the site's membership or nobody knows the answer. Jim and Chris offer good alternatives for those seeking answers to Gaggia-specific questions.

Props to the movie title: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which I unwittingly plagiarized.

Yes, I'd also like an interactive forum. One that allows me to make an espresso directly from my computer.

Can I find it amusing that OP has not yet replied to this discussion, or would that be inappropriate?

I guess both to a degree.
Hi, First off, I have gotten some very helpful info from this site. I certainly am not trying to *trash* this site (just for the record :o ) I try to glean as much info as I can about my machines, and don't post a lot of questions--only when I feel a real need. Otherwise I do research to try to find answers. Regarding the Gaggia Classic flow problem; I did comment on someone else's post; but I don't believe that was my original post. The doser problem with Gaggia MDF replies really didn't address my issues--the Importika response was from me speaking directly with the company. BTW, they replaced my MDF. Importika was telling me how to operate the machine; which I knew how to do that from Day 1. Bad O-ring on steam tube on Classic didn't really answer all my questions & one of the responses was mine to the first reply. The Cunill Tranquilo post has helped me the most.
I'm not trying to offend anyone, and if I did, I truly am sorry. I just want to be in better control--knowledge wise--with my MDF & Classic.
