How does one add an Avatar?

...for the 'puter challenged. OK, so I attach (copy) a URL instead of an actual image. OK, I get that...but I kept trying to attach URL to a Flickr image in 75 x 75 (smallest) and it kept getting rejects. What do I need to do?

Not sure what the problem was, but flickr's terms of service doesn't allow for offsite linking of images for avatars. Photobucket does and that's what most are using on this site. However, to make things easier, I've enabled both URL-based avatars and local upload of avatars directly from your profile.

(Please keep them small so as not to strain HB's teenie bandwidth budget :-)).
