Get the Jump Hash

It would be most useful to easily get the # for a post to refer directly to a specific post in a thread.

One can get the # for their own posts by a cumbersome method.

A button to copy the current post id and # jump to the clipboard would be super!

Ian-

Here's how I do it... hover your mouse over the post's Link icon and use your browser's status bar to reveal the link URL. It will be something like:

cleaning-a-grinder-with-grindz-t4031.html#43780

In the example above, the "t4031" above is the topic number... The last digits, in this case "43780" is the post number.

Too cumbersome?

Generally I recommend referring to the head of the topic instead of a particular post. The topic title above the thread links to the topic / page, and as Jeff points out, the little "paper" icon is for a particular post. I know, I know... the icon should be something like "hyperlink", but that's the standard phpBB implementation, and besides, such precision is entering power user territory.

FWIW, if I want to refer to a particular post, I use Firefox's "Copy Link Location" on the post's image. Reminder for you helpful power users: Use the [url=...]descriptive text[/url] tags, not just plain URLs. The native search will find the descriptive text in the [url=...] tags, but doesn't parse URLs for keywords like Google does.

Thanks. :D

If the user right clicks the post Icon, chooses Copy 'Shortcut' for us IE Luddites, then Paste either from the Context Menu or Ctl-V for the keyboarding Power Users.

Thus links to the above post
