Vibiemme DoubleDomo Super [Double Boiler] - Design Updates

Postby 1st-line on Thu Oct 28, 2010 1:06 pm

As you may have noticed, the DoubleDomo 'Super' espresso machines by Vibiemme have been removed from our site. These have been discontinued in anticipation for a new version.

We have worked closely with Vibiemme in the past year to upgrade these model variations with some major improvements. In the next month or so, we are expecting to stock the new version of the DoubleDomo Super.

Some improvements include:
• Improved temperature stability of the coffee boiler (redesigned boiler)
• Increased steaming performance
• Included rotary vane pump
• Ability to use with the included water reservoir or directly plumb to a water source.

These changes will be effective on the Dec. 2010 shipment. Unfortunately, these upgrades will not be adaptable to older Vibiemme units, as many parts have changed.

As soon as we have more information, pictures, and pricing this post will be updated.

Thanks for the heads-up Jim....did they not already have the rotary vane option though?

The rotary vane was found only on the direct connect to water line versions.

The machines now are "lever-swappable" back and forth between tank and direct plumb, similar to the Rocket Evoluzione or Duetto machines- this means all Vibiemme double boiler models will contain a rotary vane pump and the machines will no longer be split between tank and direct plumb versions.

Structural changes as well, including a thicker (therefore stronger) frame.
Also, the moisture that gets behind the drawer when the solenoid valve releases has been addressed with a "lip" on the front panel, and the issue with chrome peeling off from the feet has been corrected.
As Jim said, more to come --

Looks like I bought my Vibiemme a year too soon !

I really looked after the DoubleDomo, but I thought the brew boiler was too big for my needs. Ended up with the plumbed-in HX version. I still think it's a great machine !

 Today we received official word that the redesigned double boilers will not arrive with the upcoming shipment of Vibiemmes in time for Christmas.

There are a few factors that contributed to this, including a long wait for new-style parts to arrive to the factory in Italy. The other main delay is due to a change in UL standards. The new IEC worldwide standard went into effect 6 months ago. Although many manufacturers do not meet past or present electrical standards, it is of utmost importance to Vibiemme to meet or exceed all safety qualifications, and they correctly decided that the machines should be delayed to accomplish this.

We realize this redesigned model has been "coming soon" for many months now. The wait has tested everyone's patience, and we are as disappointed as you that it will not arrive in a few weeks. We hesitate to put another "expected" delivery date out there, but the factory is saying mid-January.

Again, thank you for your patience. We appreciate your interest in Vibiemme, and wish this was better news. For those of you interested in the Domobar Super Heat Exchanger -- the last batch of manual models is already sold out, but there is a shipment leaving on next week's container which will arrive before the holidays. Due to quantity limitations, please let us know asap if you are interested.
