For real? I don't think I'd heard that.

Yeah from the Daily Coffee News story that broke the whole thing;
Daily Coffee News wrote:The Sette 270 and the 270W are both launching at the SCAA Event in April 14-17, with a pared-down lower-priced third version called the Sette 30 set to launch in early 2017.

I'm pulling shots with the Sette 270 every day (ours arrived last week), and this conical is definitely impressive in the cup! It's one of the fastest grinders I've used apart from my daily go-to titan conicals, and it may be the fluffiest grind I've ever seen. For single dosing 19 grams, I have the grind timer set at 5.7 seconds. But if the hopper is full of beans, 5 seconds is sufficient to grind 20 grams for espresso.

In comparing between the Forte AP and the Sette, so far the Forte pulls even extractions more easily. But when I set the pre-infusion on our LUCCA A53 machine to three seconds, wallah! Lovely, even extractions with minimal prep needed. I need to try more coffees, but the acidity is pleasantly more pronounced in the Sette with our Lovejoy blend as well as Roseline. Here's a video I recently filmed for Instagram https://youtu.be/KafBasUImiU.

That is impressive. What were the beans roasted to? I know softer beans grind much easier. On my K10 Fresh with a full hopper, I makes very quick work of dark roast, probably about the same speed, but of course it has larger burrs.
Thanks for the video but I'm stil waiting for video proof that Sette is capable of End-to-end Grind,Tamp,Pull. I'm not buying into all of this gushing about fluffiness as if it was a good thing.

Doesn't "fluffiness" just indicate that it isn't clumpy, so easier to evenly distribute with a wee shake?

Clumpiness is not always bad but when there's too much or when they're too large it can get out of hand (or technically out of the basket! lol). In my experience I've linked snow-like fluffy grounds to poor distribution and sinked shots. When grounds are mixed thoroughly on its way out of a chute, it seems to benefit greatly, despite potential clumping. Some chutes don't clump but offer relatively spritz-free shots, such as my K10 Fresh. It'd be a stretch to call those grounds snow-like, but they're definitely clump free. Still I've found myself redistributing with a cocktail whisk to add a bit of insurance for a perfect result. I'm still excited to see any potential for a true, spritz free GTP grinder.

I am interested in how the grinder works when switching back and forth from espresso to regular brew grind. Has anyone tried this. A video would be great.

Thanks for the video. Would you mind elaborating on the prep used?

The Lovejoy blend is a modern espresso, lighter medium roast but definitely not a soft bean. And the Roseline single origins are even lighter, no problem for this motor. Videos will keep coming soon. At most, the prep that I've done has been a little finger level of the mound and one tap on the tamping mat. I want to make a good video soon that documents this.

Thanks for the update. I love my Pharos but if it really could do that without any Wdt it might push me to make the switch.

Follow up question. Can the settings be programmed in so that the espresso setting can be saved and then quickly moved back to. It would be a real solid option if it could be user friendly from drip to espresso. Regretting not spending more time with it at the scaa now...
