Interesting. The video said it will work with the Millennium Pavonis as well. You mean it'll work with the 49mm and the 51mm groups?

I just bought a full portafilter from OE to do the same thing. I'm interested to know too if it will fit a Millennium La Pavoni / Gaggia Factory group.

Hi Folks,
If your machine can use a 49mm Espressme portafilter, it will work!
Cheers to All! Merry Christmas. :D

Very intriguing idea. Love the look of it.

Is there any advantage to using 210g of aluminum over the 250g of cold brass (portafilter plus spout)? Does aluminum reduce the group temperature faster than brass?

Aluminum is a lot cheaper than brass with about the same thermal characteristics, it does not tarnish and Barb likes aluminum.
As far as fitting the millennium/factory..the hangup with fitting the 49mm (pre-mill) Penney pf has more to do with the basket than the ears of the pf. I checked and it fits the millennium group. As with all La Pavoni fitting one has to file the underside of the ears to match the size and angle of that backwards LaP pf...or is it all of the other groups that are backwards? the aluminum construction makes it easy to file...you can use a fingernail file to do it.

The 3rd Shot "heat sucker" is an innovative idea, but won't the portafilter be cooling down quite a bit in the 2 minutes it takes to do its thing?

For what it's worth, I have a different approach: I take out the basket retention clip and dose/distribute/tamp the basket out of the portafilter. For the 3rd+ shot, I dunk the portafilter in cold water and then lock it in prior to starting. By the time I'm done futzing with the basket, the portafilter is hot again and the group is at temperature.
